Clinical Psychologist

Dr Paul Norman

Paul Norman is Clinical Psychologist who completed his Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Murdoch University. He has experience in working in government, non-government and private agencies. Paul has also taught in university undergraduate Psychology programs.

Paul is available to see adolescents, adults, couples and families and uses a number of evidence-based approaches for individuals, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic psychotherapy and narrative therapy. Paul uses systemic and structural based approaches to family therapy and emotion focused therapy for couples.  

Paul addresses a wide problems including:

  • Behavioural and attentional problems (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity disorder, Oppositional defiant and Conduct Disorder)
  • Addictive behaviours (i.e., computer game/internet use and substance/alcohol use)
  • Impulse control problems (i.e., Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Trichotillomania)
  • Anger
  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Adjustment and grief
  • Chronic pain
  • Concerns about weight and shape and eating
  • Couples conflict and infidelity
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Social anxiety, panic and specific phobia
  • Work issues and Workers’ Compensation 

Paul enjoys working with clients and sharing their journey of change. He offers people the chance to explore different aspects of themselves and in develop skills in managing problematic patterns of behaviour, thoughts and emotions. He also likes working with couples and families on interactional sequences to find preferred alternative trajectories in a safe, fun and creative atmosphere.
